Words by CHRIS T-T

Each year, as nights draw in and the trappings and tropes of Christmas start to appear, I feel a conflicting mix of excitement and cynicism. This season can be so beautiful and evocative of a simpler,…

Solemn Sun - SOLEMN SUN (EP)

Have you checked out the debut EP from @SOLEMNSUN yet? See what we thought of it here -

Solemn Sun

It would be impossible to review this self-titled debut EP without giving a brief explanation of SOLEMN SUN, and how they came to be.  18 months ago, the alt-folk 4 piece from Cheltenham formerly known as Jim Lockey & The Solemn Sun were one of the UK music industry’s hottest underground properties; touring with the likes of Frank Turner and Dropkick Murphys, headlining a nation-wide tour and…

Moose Blood - I’ll Keep You In Mind, From Time To Time

Moose Blood

I’m not going to get all hipster on you and claim that I’ve been bigging up MOOSE BLOOD for years, I’ve just been put onto this band by a few mates because their debut album is, so they say, on the money. Not one to shirk a good recommendation, I gave it ‘blind’ spin, without ever listening to this band before…

Sheer Music presents… JONAH MATRANGA

This Friday, 3rd October, Sheer Music host the 2nd show in two days, as part of their 10 Year Anniversary of promoting shows in the South West & Wiltshire. In typically low key attitude, without any hyper bowl or over the top fan fair, we let the quality of the acts do the talking, and in JONAH MATRANGA we have managed a real coup!

It’s been a busy 10 years for “doing it our way” independent promoters SHEER MUSIC, since our inception in 2004.  We learnt everything the hard way, made every mistake in the book and now 10 years later, have the experience and ability to handle a show with the respect it deserves.

To celebrate this landmark we had a t-shirt designed by talented youngster Sharna Mollett and printed, which is available via our Bandcamp, and we’ve managed to snag local boys turned national underground stalwarts and aptly titled DECADE and their UK tour to swing through Swindon.

This comes off the back of other successful UK tours we have bought through Wiltshire this year, including Gnarwolves, Brawlers, The Computers and Verses.

Decade are the UK’s premier underground pop punk heroes, having signed to Universal imprint label Spinefarm Records last year. Based in Bath, but hailing from Wiltshire towns Devizes and Melksham, we proudly claim these boys as our own. They have toured relentlessly across the UK and Europe supporting We Are The Ocean, Lower Than Atlantis, Mayday Parade, Set Your Goals, Man Overboard and Tonight Alive among many others, to become the undisputed underground kings of British Pop Punk.

Support for the tour comes from another couple of heavy weight underground hitters, Birmingham’s LIGHT YOU UP and HEY VANITY from Chelmsford.

The local support slot for this show was vastly coveted, judging by my inbox requests, so it pleases me greatly to announce that Swindon’s own WITH GHOSTS will be performing 2nd on the bill. A band you will be familiar with after their stonking opening slow to Gnarwolves back in July, they are planning a digital EP release to coincide with this show and prove Swindon is in rude health.
